I have been wanting to try Bikram yoga for a long time now and tomorrow is my first session. I have heard a lot about it and I think it’s one of those things that you either love or hate.
For those of you who don’t know what it is, it is a type of yoga that takes place in a room with 38C degree heat. I think this alone will either intrigue you or completely put you off. I am a person who hates the cold and I can’t think of anything better than a really warm room, especially in these cold winter months! Sweating is also healthy, almost like a detox for your skin, cleansing. Here in Germany visiting the sauna and steam room is a much more appreciated practice than in the UK, and I really enjoy it.
Yoga has always been one of those things I have admired yet never really made time for. I am a firm believer in natural healing and the art of meditation to solve many issues in life including things such as depression and finding your way in life. I have started to incorporate more stretching and yoga into my daily routine for about two weeks now and already feel better for it. Not only physically but also mentally.
I am looking forward to trying out this new form of exercise and practise and maybe discover more about myself and what my body is capable of, especially when it will be hotter than Dubai in that room. I hope it will almost be like bringing a little bit of holiday to my day.
I will let you know how I am getting in in this little three part series.
